That sucking sound you hear...
To quote one of my professors, "That sucking sound you hear is the sound of your time being drained." We have received our research memo assignments for legal research & writing. We actually got them last week, but only over the last 2 days have I actually started trying to gather material. I can only say one thing: any time I had before, I no longer do. There are a ton of cases you have to read blurbs for just looking for one particular rule of law or definition or concept. A lot of them look relevant on the face, so you have to search through them only to find out most of them aren't relevant. Then again, there are plenty of relevant ones as well.
My work week, as I call it, has increased from about 60 hours a week to about 70 hours a week, which I expected. I've started my outlines and it took me 8 hours to get my torts outline done from chapters 1-8 and part of another chapter. I successfully distilled about 250 pages down to 12, and will have to distill those down even further for usability on the final exam. This weekend I will do Civil Procedure and Criminal Law outlines. It will take time, but it willb e worth it in the end.
