So much for any extra money this year...

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!! I just got a call from the transmission shop I dropped my car off at, and they're telling me the transmission needs to be rebuilt. That's going to cost me $1800. That's a significant chunk of change, but given that the engine seems to be in good shape and the body is in excellent shape, it's better than buying a new car. Why does this kind of crap always have to happen to me. Now I probably won't be able to go see Angela tonight either. This blows!

Got one of my final grades...

Well, I managed to pull a 4.0 off in Intermediate Macroeconomics class, although I have no idea how. I'll take whatever I'm given. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting either a 3.9 or a 4.0 in Business Writing as well. I guess that closes the book on another successful semester at OU.

We had my office Christmas party last night and I had lots of fun. We went to this fancy fondue restaurant called The Melting Pot and ate things like bread, vegetables, tortilla chips, and apples dipped in cheese. Then they served tenderloin, teriyaki sirloin, chicken, salmon, and shrimp that you could either boil in Cocoban (spelling's probably wrong) or fry in oil with tempura or sesame seed batter. Then after that, we got to eat this desert tray full of fruits, cakes, marshmallows, etc. that we all got to dip in 3 different kinds of chocolate. It was yummy. After that, we went to Kart 2 Kart where we raced go karts. I got the wind knocked out of me when I got plowed into during the second race, but at least I didn't come out last in the final race. Finally, we went back to my boss' house and ate subs, salad, and cheese and I drank most of a bottle of shiraz. Fun was had by all. By the time I got home it was 2:00am.

Today I'm going to see my sweet angel, Angela. I've barely seen her in 4 years because my ex always forbid me from seeing her. I missed her so much all this time, that I went to see her a couple times, and I look forward to spending some more time with her today. She is a really sweet, kind, caring, and considerate person.

I haven't been talking to Gerri much. She refuses to answer my IMs and I don't want to call her because it seems to piss her off even more. I understand that she's upset, and she has a right to be. Still, I would have hoped to save the friendship at least. Perhaps that's not possible though.

Done with finals...

Well, my final took me about 2 hours to complete last night (we had 3). It was quite difficult, but not impossible. I'm sure I got some points off for various things I missed, but if I had to make a guess I'd say I probably got a low A or high B. Afterward, I went over to one of my friends' houses and we chatted for around 3 hours about lots of interesting stuff, including relationships and religion.

On a side note, I talked to Gerri, my ex-fiancée for the first time 2 days ago without her slamming down the phone on me. She was such a good person and friend to me for all those years, that the thought of losing her as a friend hurt a lot. I'm hoping that this is a sign that there's still hope for us to salvage the friendship, even though the relationship is beyond hope.

I decided to do something I haven't done in 15 years today. I built a snowman. It's about 5' 2". I know it seems kind of childish, but sometimes you just need to relax and play like a kid. Posted by Picasa

My first post!

Hi everyone, and welcome to the first post of my blog. Since this is my first post, I'll introduce myself. My name is Kenneth Burger. I'm a 25 (almost 26) year old college student, majoring in economics, at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. I work full time as a computer technician/network engineer, but I plan on cutting back or quitting next fall so I can attend law school full time.

I started this blog, partially because I need a place to let my feelings out. I'm going through a tough time because I just broke up with my fiancée of 3 years (girlfriend of 4.5), and I need somewhere to air my feelings and hopefully get some feedback. Over time, though, I plan to make this into a comprehensive blog about my journey to law school by studying for and taking the LSAT, applying to law school, and then working my way through it. By the end of my first year, I think this blog may be recommended reading for any aspiring law student. Additionally, I will continue to post my personal feelings, good times, bad times, etc., like a traditional blog. Thanks for coming and I look forward to entertaining you in the months/years to come.
