A big "NO!" from Seattle

Got my decision by mail earlier this week and it was a big fat reject. Can't say I am surprised, because I'm not. Still, it would have been a nice ego booster for me if they had accepted me. Still waiting to hear back from Case, but since Seattle said no, Case is pretty much a definite no. In the event Case does give me a yes, it will be a huge ego boost for me. In any case, I'm still planning on attending Wayne.

I got done with my second from last semester this week. I majorly blew the final in International Finance, but my grades on the other tests in there were stellar, so I ended up pulling over a 3.0 in the class. My other grades should be a 4.0 in healthcare econ, and a 3.5-3.6 in accounting. I have just one more class and one more semester left. Eight more weeks, just eight more. I'm counting down.

On a side note, I've started ice skating and playing hockey again. I'm really looking forward to the start of the summer hockey class at Fraser. Hopefully this time I won't injure my toe. I'm scheduled for Lasik consult, so I can see about getting my eyes fixed. I hate wearing glasses, especially when I'm playing sports. When playing hockey, a stray puck, even with a face shield, can make them a permanent fixture to your face. Not at all a pleasant thought.

No scholarship from Wayne...

Well, I pretty much figured this would be the case, but I guess it's worth posting about anyway. My financial aid from Wayne consists of federal loans, including $8,500 in subsidized (thank God for that) and $10,000 in unsubsidized. Once Wayne releases their tuition rates for 2006/2007, I'll know what I have to take out in alternative loans. I'll probably only have to take out like $3-4k, since I have a bit of a warchest, at least for year 1.

Right now I'm preparing for finals and I have tomorrow and the weekend off to study. I'm not worried about health econ or accounting that much, but since I just decided to skip my term paper for International Finance, I need to do well on the final to keep my grade above a 3.0. I figure if I do well, I'll end up with a 3.3, which is fine for me at this point. You'll never see me say that again after this semester, so mark this day in your calendar. In law school I will be just as obsessed with my grades as I was throughout most of my undergrad career.

Commencements are on May 6 at 1:00pm at Meadowbrook Music Festival theater, Baldwin Pavilion, for anyone who knows me and would like to attend. I bought my graduation attire yesterday, along with my book for my last semester. How the hell can someone justify charging $155 for a textbook? Can someone answer that question? That is a completely insane price for a book that will be used for one semester. Well, time for me to get studying.

Oh yeah!

It's here! The decision is here, and it's good! I got admitted to Wayne State. Now I just need to pay them $150 by April 17 and I'm good to go for this fall. This is excellent news and I'm very excited by this! BOO YA!

Still no news...

I didn't hear back from Wayne yet today, and I'm only 1 city away, so I called them up and asked what was going on. Apparently my file is going to the committee meeting today, though I have no idea why. It could be a formality. However, this is in direct contrast to what I heard last week when they told me a decision had been made and mailed to me on Friday. Now I'm starting to get concerned again because it would appear as though the decision has not yet been made, but if not, why is my name listed in the student directory? I'm so confused, and starting to get worried again now.

The waiting game...

Ugh! It's driving me insane. I know that Wayne has made a decision and I think I know what it is, but the decision didn't arrive on Saturday and the wait is killing me. I paid MSU their $200 seat (read: extortion) fee after my older brother told me I was crazy for not paying it as insurance and offerred to pay it for me. I told him I wasn't going to do it, but if he wanted to pay it for me, I wouldn't argue with him about it. That's exactly what he did.

Speaking of my brother Mark, the one that paid my seat fee, I talked to him for a couple hours last night. He's in the ARMY and currently stationed in Hawaii, where he owns a fairly decent house from the way it sounds. He also offerred to put me up in his place if I want to go over there on vacation this summer. I think I'll just have to take him up on that offer. I've always wanted to go to Hawaii and I guess this is my chance. It will be the last big vacation I take for quite some time. Well, time to get cracking on accounting homework. I'll be so glad when this @#$@#%@# semester is over!
